Opened in the late 1990s, Shanghai Stadium is Shanghai Shenhua’s base in Xuhui, in the south west of the city. It is a big, modern ground, built for major occasions, but on Super League days the feel comes from Shenhua’s long-established local following. Getting there from central Shanghai is usually straightforward, and the scale of the place gives matchday a proper big-city edge without losing that club-first identity.
