Football Finder is operated by FOOTBALL AROUND ME LTD, a private limited company incorporated in England and Wales with company number 16549858 and registered office at Flat D, 2 Greenland Road, NW1 0AS, London, UK (“Football Around Me”, “we”, “us”, or “our”).
This Cookie Policy explains how we use cookies and similar technologies on our website, mobile application, and related services (together, the Service).
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you use the Service. They help the Service work, remember your preferences, understand how users interact with it, and support certain features.
We may also use similar technologies such as local storage, SDKs, and device identifiers. For simplicity, we refer to all of these as “cookies” in this policy.
2. Why we use cookies
We use cookies to:
- Keep the Service secure and functioning properly;
- Remember your settings and preferences;
- Help you sign in and stay signed in;
- Understand how the Service is used and improve performance;
- Measure the effectiveness of features and content;
- Support affiliate and partner links where relevant;
- Prevent fraud, misuse, and technical issues.
3. Types of cookies we use
A. Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are essential for the Service to operate. They enable core functions such as navigation, security, authentication, and remembering your cookie preferences.
Without these cookies, some parts of the Service may not function properly.
B. Functional or preference cookies
These cookies remember choices you make (such as interface settings or saved preferences) to provide a more personalised experience.
C. Analytics or performance cookies
These cookies help us understand how users interact with the Service, which features are used most, and where improvements can be made. Where required by law, we will ask for your consent before using these cookies.
D. Affiliate and partner tracking cookies
When you click on certain external links (such as booking or ticketing links), cookies may be set by us or by third parties to track referrals and measure performance of affiliate relationships. Our current affiliate partners include Booking.com (hotels), Kiwi.com via Travelpayouts (flights), Airalo (eSIM data plans), GetYourGuide (tours and activities), and Amazon Associates (shirts and fan gear). These cookies are set on the partner’s domain when you click through, not on ours.
E. Advertising or marketing cookies
We do not currently use advertising or marketing cookies. If we decide to use them in the future, this Cookie Policy and our cookie consent tools will be updated accordingly.
4. Third-party cookies
Some cookies and similar technologies are placed by third-party services integrated with the Service, for example Mapbox for map tiles and geocoding, Supabase for authentication, PostHog and Google Analytics for analytics (only if you have consented to analytics), and GetYourGuide for the tours and activities widget shown on match pages.
We do not control these third-party cookies. We recommend you review the privacy and cookie policies of the relevant third parties.
5. Cookies and storage we use
The table below lists the cookies and similar storage technologies the Service may place on your device. Durations are approximate and may change when providers update their libraries. Where a row says “localStorage”, the value is stored in your browser’s local storage rather than as an HTTP cookie, but we treat it the same way for consent purposes.
Tip: scroll the table horizontally to see every column.
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Category | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
sb-*-auth-token and related sb-* cookies | Football Finder (via Supabase) | Keeps you signed in and maintains your session. | Strictly necessary | Access token ~1 hour; refresh token rotates, up to ~30 days. |
ff_cookie_consent_v1 (localStorage) | Football Finder | Stores your cookie preferences so we don’t ask again on every visit. | Strictly necessary | Persistent until you clear browser storage. |
ff_post_auth_redirect (localStorage) | Football Finder | Remembers where to send you after sign-in. | Strictly necessary | Removed immediately after sign-in completes. |
ff.distanceUnit (localStorage) | Football Finder | Remembers whether you prefer kilometres or miles. | Functional | Persistent until you clear browser storage. |
ff:country-bbox:<country> (localStorage) | Football Finder | Caches map bounding boxes per country so the map opens quickly on return visits. | Functional | Persistent until you clear browser storage. |
ff:last-user-location (localStorage) | Football Finder | Stores the approximate coordinates from your last location check so the map and the “near me” search open where you are without asking again. | Functional | Used for 24 hours, then ignored and refreshed. |
ff:user-city-label (localStorage) | Football Finder | Stores the city name those coordinates resolved to, so we can show “Near <your city>” without looking it up again. | Functional | Used for 24 hours, then ignored and refreshed. |
ff_user_loc (cookie) | Football Finder | Mirrors your resolved city and approximate coordinates so pages other than the map can default to matches near you. Only written after you share your location. | Functional | 24 hours. |
ph_<project_api_key>_posthog cookie, plus related ph_* entries in localStorage | PostHog (proxied via footballfinder.app) | Measures product usage, page views, and feature flags so we can improve the Service. The cookie holds your distinct ID, session ID, and device ID; everything else is kept in localStorage. Only set if you accept analytics. | Analytics | Cookie: 365 days. localStorage: persistent until cleared. |
_ga, _ga_<measurement_id>, _gid | Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC) | Measures site traffic and user interactions so we can understand how the Service is used and improve it. Only set if you accept analytics. | Analytics | _ga: 2 years; _ga_*: 13 months; _gid: 24 hours. |
| Mapbox session cookies | Mapbox (api.mapbox.com) | Set by Mapbox when the map loads tiles or runs a search. We do not control these cookies. See Mapbox’s privacy policy. | Strictly necessary (map functionality) | Varies; see Mapbox. |
| Booking, ticketing, and partner referral cookies | Third-party partners (e.g. Booking.com, Kiwi.com / Travelpayouts, Airalo) | When you click a ticket, hotel, or partner link, the destination site may set cookies to attribute the referral. These cookies are set on the partner’s domain, not ours. | Affiliate / partner | Varies by partner. |
We do not currently use advertising or marketing cookies. If that changes, we will update this table and ask for your consent before setting them.
6. Consent and cookie choices
Where required by law, we will ask for your consent before placing non-essential cookies.
You can manage your cookie preferences through our cookie banner (where available) or through your device/browser settings. Please note that blocking certain cookies may affect the functionality of the Service.
You can withdraw your consent at any time by changing your cookie settings.
7. How long cookies last
Some cookies are session cookies (they expire when you close the app/browser). Others are persistent cookies that remain on your device for a longer period or until you delete them.
8. Changes to this Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted here with a new “Last updated” date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
