Home of AZ Alkmaar in Alkmaar, AFAS Stadion is a compact modern ground with room for around 19,500 fans. It sits a little outside the old city centre, so matchday feels more local than touristy, with a steady stream of red and white shirts heading in. AZ have long been one of the Netherlands' sharper, well-run clubs, and the atmosphere here is usually lively without losing that organised Dutch feel.
